The latest EP from Weapons of Desire, Seven Dials, is the work of Stu Crosbie, the producer behind the wonderful Dark Arts and Bespoke Cutter releases. He makes dark, spacey, and intricate techno, and for the Bespoke Cutter EPs, some abstract masterpieces.
On bandcamp, WOD describe this as ‘astonishing stripped-back techno’, and it is. Stu Crosbie makes astonishingly good music. This is the kind of immaculate production, where every sound sits perfectly, combined with a genius for the off-kilter. The tracks are dark and atmospheric, but they’re also made for the dancefloor. It’s the antithesis to the kind of disposable, paint by numbers music that kills the soul of clubs. These tracks are beautifully crafted, deep and arresting. This is, in the true sense of the word, an awesome release.
