I spent a lovely Tuesday evening listening to new records, and amongst them was Bespoke Cutter: The Fourth Study.
This EP is a real treat. This is like the weird ghost of dance music after a mind-altering experience. The five tracks here are sparse and glitchy but are also upbeat and would work on a dancefloor. This is an experimental but also very comfortable listen and the tunes, whilst almost abstract, manage to be oddly groovy.
Also worth noting is that this is pressed on a lovely slab of clear vinyl, and the simple, beautiful artwork and packaging are a complement to the tunes they contain. Ultimately, it’s about the music, but it’s always lovely when the whole package is a piece of art.
A strange and brilliant trip.
